Madonna and Child, Lincoln Cathedral

My latest watercolour shows a detail of the statue of the Madonna and Child at Lincoln Cathedral. The statue can be found in the south-eastern porch of the cathedral. It is known as the Judgement Porch as there is (above the Madonna and Child) a carving of Christ in Judgement.

Unfortunately, this month there will be NO COMPETITION to win one of my watercolours. This is due to the fact that once again, I am on the Scrapheap of Life, i.e. Unemployed, so money is rather tight. I will start the competition again as soon as things pick up financially (he says hopefully).

Meanwhile, the results of the March competition will be announced in the next couple of days.

Thanks Amy. I found this quite a difficult painting to bring off. This is actually my third attempt at it!!

Thanks Anita. It's a bit of a pain, but I'm trying to remain optimistic - and doing lots of painting!!

sorry to hear you're out of work. Hope you sell some of your artwork. Love the Madonna, and I'm not even religious!

Wow, that is really beautiful. So expressive! I received my print and the colors are even nicer than I had expected. When I manage to get it framed I'll feature it on my blog. I'm not ignoring you!

John..
This is exquisite!! I especially like the colors in the upper right hand side...
I love it all, but if I were to choose a favorite spot... that's it.

Hope you are well. I just so admire these watercolors!!... such an unforgiving medium!! and done so well!

John, I hope you don't get tired of my "it's beautiful" comments. LOL I guess I have to look for other adjectives to use. :o) I hope things turn around for you soon. Btw, I have an award for you here:

This is very good. I like that you've captured the shadows behind the sculpture with so much color, as opposed to just using black directly. Very nice work.
