Beach Huts at Wells

Thought you would like the see the original painting I took my current header pic. from. It's a watercolour of beach huts at Wells-Next-the-Sea. This is a small coastal town in Norfolk on the east coast England. It is one of my brother-in-laws favorite holiday destinations, so I painted this for him as a present when he got married earlier this year.

What absolutely beautiful colours you've achieved in this painting. Watercolours are so finnicky and difficult (I find), but you seem to have mastered the medium! I will be following your blog from now on.

Thanks Liz. Beach huts seem to lend themselves to bright summery colours. They always make me think of days on the beach with buckets and spades.
Thanks for the compliment about having "mastered the medium". I'm not so sure though as watercolour has a way of bringing you back down to earth if you get overconfident with it!

Thanks Margaret Ann and Lisa.
Yes I'm quite pleased with the colours in this work. When I get time I'll do a post on what colours I use and how I apply them.
